Everyone Loves a Parade!

We had a splendid Christmas parade in our small town this year.  I must say it was one of the best I've seen since living here.  This was Nick's first year participating, not watching.  He rode with his boy scout troop.  He was nervous at first, but admitted enjoying the ride!  Adam had a great time catching candy, dancing to the bands, and enjoying the fun figures that stopped and waved.

8 is Great!

Because 8 years ago today, I became a Mom.  God blessed me with a 5 lb, 3 oz miracle.

I love you Nicholas Andrew, and have a very Happy Birthday!!

The end of a great baseball season!

This is our first year playing baseball. We played 2 years of T-ball prior. There was a big difference and for a while Nick felt "out of his league", but soon caught on adn had a wonderful time. I was amazed how his skills developed through the season.

Entertaining Adam during games is sometimes a challenge. I wish our area had a league for 4 yr old. Adam spends time playing trucks and here he is doing a sticker book with my dad, Pap.

My computer was out for a while with a bad virus. we are all cleaned up and running great, so now it it time to catch up on some posts!

Everyday, at the beginning of class, the first grade students do independant journal writing for 15 minutes. This week Nick brought home the first complete journal he made since the first day of school. The second one will come home at the end of the year. I was amazed at the little things that meant enough to him for him to want to write and illistrate about it. He's such a special kid and this journal is a very special gift! Below are some of my favorite entries. Someday, when I am old and grey and he has his own family, this book may mean even more to me than it does now, but for today * It's Priceless*

True Story Tuesday

It's all in good fun...right? Every time I am able to participate in this blog post, it generally means my children have somehow embarrassed me or have done something only a mother could love...and this week is certainly no different!

Nick is not a big fan of Sunday school. He enjoys and comprehends learning about God and religion, but at church or on his own time or during prayer time at home. He feels that 5 days in a classroom are enough so spending Sunday morning after church in a classroom doesn't work for him. I do understand, he is almost 7 and a little boy.

Well, in not my proudest moment as a mother, I unfortunately tried to strike a deal. It back fired - BIG TIME!

I told him if he went to Sunday school willingly and easily, I would take him to get a toy when we where done (I know...like I said, not my proudest "Mom Moment".

I was helping with class on this day (last Sunday) and my son raised his hand. His teacher called on him. Oh no...here it comes! He asked "when is class going to be over? Mommy said I can get a toy when we get done if I didn't argue about coming to class"

True Story Tuesday - $1.00!

We went to a family reunion on Sunday. It was nice and the kids had a great time. This year they had more planned children's activities than ever. My kids loved everything from the pinata to the HUGE playground near by. The also loved the peanut scramble - and loved to embarass their mother after the peanut scramble!

The object of the scramble was, if you get a colored peanut shell, you won a prize! Nick was a lucky winner. He went to claim his prize from a relative who was handing out the prizes. He won one dollar. He was SOOOO excited and immediately wanted to go to Wal Mart and buy a toy! I told him he needed a little more money than $1.00 to buy the toy he suggested getting.

In his 6 year old innocence, he went and asked the same relative if he could have some more dollars so he could buy something good! Everyone got a good laugh and Nick understood that one dollar was a great prize and he can save it and add to it.
