Friday Photo Flashbacks

Nick ~ 4 months old. Probably saying "Go Steelers"
How can this tiny little baby boy be turning 7 next month - ugh!!

Friday Fill Ins

1. My back loves a good massage!
2. Living in a house full of boys can sometimes get a little wild.
3. Leaves are falling all around, fall has arrived!
4. Forgetfulness, it's never intentional, but inevitable .
5. Healing is a often times a slow process.
6. Busy, thinking, stressed, re-organizing and heavy minded is what I've been up to lately.
7. Tonight I'm looking forward to just having Nick by himself (my parents have Adam) and treating him to a special night, tomorrow my plans include hosting Nicks playmates and some fall cleaning, and Sunday I want to finish putting out the Halloween decorations and watching the Steeler become 4-0 by beating the Ravens!

5 Question Friday!

1. Did you have a penpal when you where little (or now)? Where where/are they now? A great friend moved when I was in the second grade. We did everything from slumber parties to being best buds in school. She moved away and we wrote to each other for a while, lost touch and regained our friendship a few months ago through facebook.

2. If you could do a different job for a day, what would it be? I would love to be a kindergarden teacher, (if I could do coolge over, that's what I would do!)

3. Do you remember your biggest fear when you were little? Hands down birds!!!! And I still don't like them at all!!!!

4. What do you think is a waste of time, and why? Twitter...who needs to know your move every second of the day. Facebook and blogging is great, but twitter ~ what's the point??? Sorry if your a fan!

5. What is your oldest item you have in your closet? I'm not sure, by date, that it is exactly the oldest, but I have a pair of jeans that are extremely comfy and have a frayed hole in the knee and I still where them and LOVE them. They are great and I refuse to retire them until I absolutely have to.

True Story Tuesday

It's all in good fun...right? Every time I am able to participate in this blog post, it generally means my children have somehow embarrassed me or have done something only a mother could love...and this week is certainly no different!
Nick is not a big fan of Sunday school. He enjoys and comprehends learning about God and religion, but at church or on his own time or during prayer time at home. He feels that 5 days in a classroom are enough so spending Sunday morning after church in a classroom doesn't work for him. I do understand, he is almost 7 and a little boy.
Well, in not my proudest moment as a mother, I unfortunately tried to strike a deal. It back fired - BIG TIME!
I told him if he went to Sunday school willingly and easily, I would take him to get a toy when we where done (I know...like I said, not my proudest "Mom Moment".
I was helping with class on this day (last Sunday) and my son raised his hand. His teacher called on him. Oh no...here it comes! He asked "when is class going to be over? Mommy said I can get a toy when we get done if I didn't argue about coming to class"
Lovely.

3. If you could pull off one piece of trendy fashions (leggins, hats, thigh high boots, etc) what would it be? I would love to be able to wear skinny jeans, but I am too short and they just look ridiculous!

4. Did you make good grades in school? Yep!

5. What magazine(s) do you subscribe to? As a household we receive several such as Lego Magazine, Highlights, People, Maxim (what...we're human!), This Old House, and several others that were free such as one from our college and many catalogs from stores.

True Story Tuesday - $1.00!

We went to a family reunion on Sunday. It was nice and the kids had a great time. This year they had more planned children's activities than ever. My kids loved everything from the pinata to the HUGE playground near by. The also loved the peanut scramble - and loved to embarass their mother after the peanut scramble!
The object of the scramble was, if you get a colored peanut shell, you won a prize! Nick was a lucky winner. He went to claim his prize from a relative who was handing out the prizes. He won one dollar. He was SOOOO excited and immediately wanted to go to Wal Mart and buy a toy! I told him he needed a little more money than $1.00 to buy the toy he suggested getting.

In his 6 year old innocence, he went and asked the same relative if he could have some more dollars so he could buy something good! Everyone got a good laugh and Nick understood that one dollar was a great prize and he can save it and add to it.

Monday Mugs - Vroom, Vroom

This week's theme is Vroom, Vroom! I have boys, so this was EASY!!

Adam riding the Dino at Nick's 6th birthday party.

A great prop for a great portrait.

First night on a new Power Wheels ride.

A 4th birthday gift from his Mommy & Daddy - his first bike!

When Nick was 3, he was obsessed with tow trucks because he LOVED the disney movie Cars.
My Dad took him to Tow Truck sales yard. It was a BIG event!

Nick's 6th Birthday suprise...a trip to a new car dealership to see a "Bumble Bee" car detailed to be the one from Tranformers. It even had a trim package that had the Transformers symbols and such! This too was VERY exciting!!

Adam's turn to drive!

and lawn mower rides always seem to be the best "vroom, vroom" in town!!!

Remembering September 11th...

Do you remember where you were when you first heard of the attack? I do! I remember the disbief, shock and sadness that overcame myself and all Americans as we mourned the tragedy.
Remember this day and honor those who lost their life too soon!

Five Question Friday!

1. Do you feel guilty spending money on yourself? Usually, unless I grab a good deal, thenI feel proud to have saved money!!

2. How well do you know your neighbors? Cordially, we wave, small talk, and say "hi". My favorite neighbors that we did everything with moved 2 hours way - *sigh* We miss them!

3. What age are you looking forward to being? I am thrilled being 33. If I rush my age, that means my children will be older and I don't want to rush time/ memories!

4. Do you get excited when the mail comes? Why? Not usually, unless I am expecting a cool package or letter. Usually the mail is junk or bills.

5. What is your earliest childhood memory? I have a couple memories of kindergarten. That's not bad since it was 28 uears ago!
