Week 8 of 52 ~ Penns Cave

At Penn's Cave, a boat ride through a cave near State College (Penn State). After the 40 minute boat ride, we walked through the grounds. They had hundreds of painted and decorated pumpkins. I took some cute pics that I will share later.

Pumpkin Carving

My boys did not like cleaning out the pumpkin and they helped about as long as it took me to take the picture.

A few weeks ago we went to the pumpkin patch and, in my opinion, came home with perfectly shaped pumpkins (I look and look until I find them - you should try Christmas tree hunting with me sometime - I'm VERY picky). Ahem anyway, everyone was soooooo excited to carve pumpkins. Apparently I was too slow because I was slowly abandoned, one by one. Well, at least I had peace and quiet to concentrate! I am quite pleased with the results.

Week 7 of 52

The kids and I playing on a beautiful day at a local Pumpkin Patch, Reynold's Farm.

The Smithsonians

I've briefly posted a few pictures of our trip to the Smithsonians in Washington D.C. We live so close to such a national treasure, sometimes you forget how lucky you are!
We had such a wonderful day and I wanted to share some more of our adventures with you!

Inside the Air and Space Museum

Climbing a tree on a rest break - we did LOTS of walking.

The National History Museum had a hands on table for kids to play and learn. In this picture they took the kids finger print and had them draw an ocean animal around the finger print. They turned out very cute!

Dinosaurs in the Natural History Museum. These were very exciting for the boys.

A tree made out of metal outside the National Art Museum.
The Reflection Pool ~ I love this shot!

Pointing out airplanes "flying" in the sky.

It was the last thing we saw and the definate highlight of the trip for Nick. We didn't even know it was there until we left, but Nick got to "meet" C3PO!!! Life was good :)

Michelle Obamas Inaugural Dress

Adam was convinced this was Buzz Lightyears rocket ship.

We had a super day. We go on this trip every year and I've been there 20+ times, but everytime I go I discover something new, different, and very exciting that I never saw before. It's an excellent day trip and I certainly recommend it if you are ever in the area.

Week 6 of 52

This a hard challenge! I'm slowly getting there. Anyway, we went to Washington D.C and toured the Smithsonians this past weekend. We live about an hour and 15 minutes away and it always makes such a nice family day trip. My kids and I are in front of a fountain that becomes an ice skating ink in the winter. The building is the National Museum of Art.

Monday Mugs - Orange!

This week's theme is Orange ~ just in time for Halloween!!!
Last Friday Nick didn't have school for a teacher in-service day so I took a "sick day" and we went to the pumpkin patch. There was lots of orange!
